Looking for a Dentist for Invisalign in Oakland County? Here are a Few Things You Should Know

We can see your head spinning all the way from here.

If you’re looking for a dentist for Invisalign in Oakland County, you might not know where to begin to narrow down your options. In fact, it could be so overwhelming that you find yourself delaying this procedure indefinitely.

But please don’t do that. We’re here to help you understand the process and identify the best dentist for your personalized Invisalign treatment in the Rochester Hills, Michigan area. We want you to look and feel your best, and Invisalign treatment can dramatically increase your confidence.

If you know you want to straighten your teeth but don’t know how Invisalign treatment works exactly, here’s the long and short of it.

How It Works

Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners to gradually shift your teeth into the optimal positions.

If you choose to have Invisalign treatment here in our Rochester dental office, the process will begin with a consultation by Dr. Papastamatis. If you are an ideal candidate, he will take images of your teeth, overall mouth, and jaw.

No slimy impression material will be used. Our office digitally scans your teeth in a few minutes using the latest iTero 5D scanner.

These images and other relevant dental records will then be sent to Invisalign. The technicians there will use them to create a 3-dimensional digital model of your teeth that simulates the progression of the treatment.

Dr. Papastamatis will review this simulation along with you, and if it’s ideal, a complete set of aligners will be created for you.

Each aligner is used for about one week before it is swapped for the next aligner in the series. The aligners become progressively straighter as your teeth shift into place. Typically, patients wear the aligners for about 9 months overall, give or take a couple months. When all is said and done, most patients will have gone through about 35 aligners.

Although the aligners are removable, you will be advised to wear them all day except for when eating, brushing, and flossing. If you don’t leave them in your mouth for 23 hours per day, it may take longer for you to see results.

You will also have a checkup with Dr. Papastamatis once every month or two throughout the course of the treatment.

Finding the Right Dentist for Invisalign in Oakland County for You

As you are looking for an Oakland County area dentist for Invisalign, doing some due diligence will help you identify the right one for you.

Here are a few tips:

1. Talk with your friends and family who have had Invisalign treatment in metro Detroit. Ask if they are happy with the results and if they were comfortable throughout the treatment process.

2. Analyze each potential dentist’s website and read the reviews online. As you do so, don’t let one or two negative reviews cloud your judgment, as they could be from competitors or otherwise have a long backstory that isn’t apparent in the review. Also, keep in mind that a 5-star rating with three reviews is not as meaningful as a 4.7-star rating with 103 reviews.

3. Do compare costs for Invisalign treatment, but do not base your decision solely on this factor.

4. Look for a modern dentist who stays up-to-date with trends in the industry, as these dentists are more likely to have advanced technology that will help facilitate a smoother process.

5. Find an Invisalign dentist near you in the Rochester area. You will be in and out of the office frequently over these several months, and convenience is an added bonus that never hurt anyone.

6. Look for a dentist you simply like, as well as a dental staff that makes efficient, friendly, personalized dental care a priority.
